Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiology is the prescription of exercise to help manage chronic conditions, disability and injuries.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) are university qualified, having undertaken a four year university degree, with clinical placement. AEP’s have extensive knowledge, skills and competencies to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for all community members seeking guidance with their movement journey . We can also tailor specific exercise therapy for those with a variety of medical conditions..

What to expect when seeing an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

  • Initial Assessment: An assessment of a range of measurements based on the patient’s capacity and development of patient goals. Some measurements taken include body composition details (height, weight etc), range of motion, strength, flexibility, balance, blood pressure.

  • Exercise Program Prescription: Carefully chosen exercises to meet the patient’s needs and health and movement related goals are curated into an exercise program. The exercise or lifestyle intervention may be a program to complete at home, in a gym or in the clinic. Recommended guidelines for chronic diseases are adhered to.

  • Program Review: Reassessment and review of goals and improvement, adherence to the program and progressions/regressions applied as appropriate, at various intervals.
